DESCRIPTION:
Vintage 1960s Black Metal Laundry Hamper w/ White Floral Design on front.
The whole thing is metal except for the bottom which is like a pressed wood.
Make sure to read the Condition Section about the warped wood on bottom.
It looks like a Detecto Hamper, but there isn't any brand on this that I see.
The inside of lid may have had it on there, but it is now covered up.
The floral design is original, but the butterflies are something like wall paper.
They are adhered to it and some have paint near them adding to the look.
The hinged lid also has the same kind of covering over it.
I'm sure this covering and the butterflies were added later.
The yarn looks to be added later too (you can cut those off if you don't want it).
Decent Condition, but bottom needs work.... Read Condition Section for details.

Decent Condition, but bottom needs work.

I'm not sure that this wood could be straightened to use it again.
It is like a pressed wood and has some cracks in it from the warping.
If you took it out and wet it a little, you might be able to get its shape back.
Anyway, there's a few things you could do including using it the way it is.
It stays wedged in there like you see in the photos, but isn't really attached.
Meaning if you had a lot of clothes in it and picked it up, they may fall out.
Can be used the way it is as long as you left it in its spot.
You could move it empty or with only a few clothes in it.
Has some small dents on left side, but the rest of it looks nice.
It's hard to see the dents in the photos because it is black.
I wiped it down well, but it was pretty filthy so it could use more cleaning.
The wood may produce an odor because of years of use, but nothing major.
I'd use a liner for the bottom, or at least some plastic over bottom.
That way any damp clothes won't get stained from that wood bottom.
I noticed a couple of tiny areas around the bottom that may be rust.
There may be other tiny areas, but for it being from the 1960s, it looks nice.
